Cabin Cuisine

I have to say, we do it up pretty well here as far as dinners go. The weekly food budget is more than ample in keeping us stocked with plenty of fruits and veggies and Tom's halibut and deer contributions are a delicious bonus. Add Annie's skills in homemade breading baking and my beer selections and you'd think we were running our own little B and B out here.

Yes, it's been really nice. However, last night we started getting a little twinge of guilt about just how well we were eating. Perhaps it was time to prepare a meal from some of those canned food stuffs stacked away in the cabin's cupboards for who knows how long. Maybe we should try roughin' it a little, go truly cabin-in-the-woods-style for at least ONE meal.

So, we perused our options:

Picked a couple cans

Added a bit of this and that

And dinner is served on the cabin's new baking sheet! Nachos never tasted so good.

Try this Authentic Yukon Bush Melange:

1 can pork and beans
1 can Dinty Moore Stew
1 can of canned corn
Lots of hot dogs cooked and chopped

Pour all into a Dutch oven, stir well and heat over open fire (summer) or Coleman stove (16-dog-night). Grab a big spoon and dig in.

Love your blog!
